Try Infinity Panel

Pick a path and drag its settings. This runs Infinity Panel's own Position expression in your browser, so every path, ease and loop moves exactly as it will in After Effects. With the path shown, you see the panel's preview: each dot is an equal step in time, so the dots bunch up where the motion eases.

About this script

Select layers and pick a path: an infinity figure-eight that settles at both tips, a circle with 1 to 12 eased stops per loop, a triangle, a square, a pentagon to an octagon, or a star with 3 to 12 points and a depth you set. Choose Size, Loop Time and Ease, from constant speed to a smooth or a snappy stop at every corner, turn the path, and pick where it starts and which way it goes. Apply Motion writes one Position expression centered on the layer's own position, so keyframed and parented layers keep working, and adds its settings to the layer as Expression Controls you can change or keyframe later. With nothing selected it makes a new null, Spread places several layers evenly around the path, and Remove takes the motion and its controls off again.

What it does

  • Six paths: Infinity, Circle, Triangle, Square, Polygon (5 to 8 sides) and Star (3 to 12 points)
  • Ease from constant speed to a smooth or a snappy stop at every corner
  • 1 to 12 eased stops per loop on the circle, and an adjustable depth for the star
  • Size, Loop Time, Rotation, Offset and Direction
  • Its settings land on the layer as Expression Controls, ready to change or keyframe
  • Centered on the layer's own position: keyframes and parenting keep working
  • Spread several layers evenly around the path
  • A preview in the panel: each dot is an equal step in time
  • With nothing selected, a new null follows the path
  • One undo takes it back, and Remove clears the motion and its controls
