About this script

Duplicates the compositions selected in the Project panel together with every composition nested in them, so you can change the copy without touching the original. A nested comp used several times is duplicated once per copy, and every layer that used it switches to the new one. Name the copies with a prefix or suffix, search and replace, or by counting up the numbers in their names (Shot_009 becomes Shot_010), put each copy in its own folder, keep shared items out by prefix, suffix or regex, and let it rewrite expressions to point at the new comps. Collect Dependencies gathers a comp and everything it uses into one folder.

What it does

• Duplicates nested comps at any depth, or down to a depth limit
• A comp used several times is copied once per copy
• Prefix, suffix, search and replace, and counting up numbers in names
• Each copy in its own folder, keeping folder paths
• Exclude shared items by prefix, suffix or regex
• Rewrites comp(), footage() and layer() names in expressions
• Duplicate footage and solids too, if you want
• Several copies in one go, as one undo step
• Collect Dependencies gathers a comp and what it uses into one folder
