About this script
Select the layers in Photoshop and run it: type a name, choose append, prepend or replace, and tick count to add #1, #2, #3 in Layers panel order. The dialog shows what the first layer will be called and how many layers change before you press Rename. The whole rename is one undo step, the dialog remembers your last name, mode and count setting, and the Background layer is left alone. Copy it into Photoshop's Presets/Scripts folder to have it under File > Scripts, or run it with File > Scripts > Browse.
